Becoming A Referee

There are many great benefits to becoming a Oztag referee whether you still play the game, have retired, or have never played there is plenty to be gained from picking up the whistle. Refereeing Oztag is a great way to stay involved in the game as well as having some fun, making new friends and earn some money along the way.

Referee development is an extremely important part of our game, simply without referees we wouldn’t have a game to enjoy. If you would like to get involved with the fastest growing recreational sport in ACT, follow the steps listed below to become an accredited Oztag referee. There are many levels a referee can reach within the sport of Oztag, starting at a grass roots level and advancing to a national and even international level.

Accreditation

  • New Referees

    For persons aged 13+

    1. Complete Oztag’s Level 1 Referee Accreditation.

    • Use link below to access Online Accreditation.

    • Create an account with etrainu.

    • Go to training library.

    • Select Referee Level 1

    • Complete the online Introduction to refereeing course

    • Complete the exam questions at the conclusion of your eLearning.

    • Download the Level 1 Referee Local Sign Off document and bring to the Practical Referee Course

    2. Register and Attend the Practical Referee Course.

    • It is compulsory for NEW referees to attend the Practical Referee Course to be eligible to referee.

    • Wear Oztag shorts

    • Whistle

    • Runners

    • Hat

    3. At the conclusion of the Practical Referee Course, we will sign off to confirm you're ready to referee.

    4. You can purchase a referee top at the Practical Referee Course.

    5. Please complete the JotForm to confirm your availability for this season.

  • Current Referees

    Having refereed at a local level for more than 1 season it is time to level up. To become an accredited LEVEL 2 referee you must complete an exam.

    2. Referee Level 2 - In Game Assessment

    • In game assessment begins when the local season commences.

    • Please bring your in-game assessment to your first allocated game, as the assessment process will take place progressively throughout the season.

    3. Complete the JotForm to confirm your availability for this season.

    To referee at representative level you must be level 2.

Throughout the competition, referees earned entries into our prize pool based on the number of games they officiated and their level of experience.

The more games you ref, the more chances you have to win.
